A mentor will help you skill up, while a sponsor will help you move up. And finally a mentor will give you perspective, whereas a sponsor will give you opportunities. Take some time to reflect whether you have a mentor or a sponsor, and how the support that they are providing is aligned to what you wish to achieve.
This is one of my favourite topics and I love to normalise women being seen and accepted in tech careers and in tech companies and IT departments.

In September 2019 I had the privilege to be selected as part of Tech Women, a cohort of over 100 ladies in STEM from 21 countries, to spend five weeks in Silicon Valley. Tech Women is a professional exchange program run by the US State Department which convenes women who are emerging leaders in the different STEM fields from 21 countries across Africa, Middle East and Central Asia.
