Your career in tech doesn’t have to be an uphill climb or a lonely battle. There are many simple actions you can take that will help you feel empowered and able to take on some challenges you will have to face.
There is a shortage of skills in the tech sector, and women are far outnumbered by their male counterparts. The tech sector is still struggling to attract women into the industry, and furthermore struggles to retain those who do enter. In this video Nobukhosi Dlamini discusses what are the main contributors to women leaving the industry and what actions employers can take to retain women in tech sector.
In September 2019 I had the privilege to be selected as part of Tech Women, a cohort of over 100 ladies in STEM from 21 countries, to spend five weeks in Silicon Valley. Tech Women is a professional exchange program run by the US State Department which convenes women who are emerging leaders in the different STEM fields from 21 countries across Africa, Middle East and Central Asia.
